How to Apply

Selecting a school and applying for a place for your child can sometimes seem daunting but we hope that the information on this page will guide you.

As a middle school our school offers a strong academic focus and supportive environment for children aged 9 to 13. The strong links between Tollgate Primary School, Horringer Middle School and County Upper School allows for seamless transitions from Primary to Middle School and then on to Upper School. However, our transition process allows children to join us in any year, whatever school they currently attend.

Normal Year of Entry

Westley Middle School has a Published Admission Number (PAN) of 116 for entry into Year 5. Suffolk County Council co-ordinates all Normal Year of Entry Admissions into Year 5 and communicates all admission decisions to parents.

► Your application must reach Suffolk County Council by Sunday 31 October 2021.
Please note: this is an earlier date from previous years for middle school applications.

  • will receive confirmation of your application by email
  • can check or change your application right up to the closing date
  • can view the outcome of your application online on the offer day
  • will receive an email with details of your school offer on the offer day

If you prefer to complete a paper application this can be downloaded from the link below. The completed CAF1 form can be emailed to admissions@suffolk.gov.uk or posted to the address on the form – it is advised to get proof of postage.

► An offer of a school place will be sent out on Tuesday 1 March 2022 by Suffolk County Council.

In Year Applications

In-year applications should be made directly to Westley Middle School using the ADM1 form which you can download below. Please email or post the completed form to the School Office.


All applicants refused a place have a right of appeal to an independent appeal panel constituted and operated in accordance with the School Admission Appeals Code. Appellants should contact the Education Appeals Office on 01473 264218 or 264219.
